Ben is a fourth generation educator who owes his love of learning to his parents and his teachers. Ben loves the company and conversations he shares with students, and is fascinated by the ways in which all adults can learn from the minds of young people. Ben sees the truth in Dr. Dewey’s claim that “education is life itself,” and has acquired some of his most valuable knowledge through nature, culture, and relationships.
During his career as an educator, Ben has worked in schools and educational organizations in New York City, Cape Town, South Africa and Bogotá, Colombia. He proudly spent eight years teaching English language, literature, philosophy, and history to middle and high school students. In 2018, Ben received his Ed.M. in International Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has contributed to educational projects sponsored by the UN Development Programme, UNESCO, and the International Rescue Committee.
Ben first started working with Envoys in 2017 as a graduate school intern. As an Envoys field staff member, Ben has led trips to Washington D.C., New Orleans, southern Arizona, and Puerto Rico. Currently, Ben serves as the Field and Risk Director working to recruit, coach, and empower the diverse and talented Envoys program leaders.
